I received this through the post yesterday from my great (and very talented) friend, Vicky. I’d spotted it on her Instagram feed and after I commented how much I loved it, being the generous soul that she is, she popped it straight in the post to me.
“Just because my path is different, doesn’t mean I am lost.”
From my experiences just this week, this is where I’ve seen this concept being challenged:
* People recruited into organisations as “fresh blood” with new skills and talents to complement that organisation….and then being quickly told: “We don’t do it like that round here” and encouraged to conform to the status quo they’ve joined
* Young women being ridiculed because they don’t look a certain way (i.e. exactly like everybody else)
* People with a strong belief and conviction in the direction they should follow, but faced with cynicism and scorn, simply because it isn’t understood by others.
“Just because my path is different, doesn’t mean I am lost.” There may be things you’re facing at work or personally where the path you believe you should walk is not yet understood by other people. That doesn’t make it wrong; that doesn’t make you lost. Yet too often, we get swayed by what others think or start to doubt our own judgement. Accepting wise counsel is one thing; being unduly influenced by someone with a loud opinion, is quite another.
Be encouraged!
